Abstract
In this research, the issue of shipment of used electrical and electronic equipment (UEEE) that are close to their end of life are assessed and the problems resulting to the e-waste case in Nigeria and possible solutions are discussed with the view of increasing awareness towards the reduction of e-waste menace. Electronic waste contains hazardous substances that pollute the ecosystems which in turn affects the human health and the environment are discussed. The desire to bridge the digital divide coupled with the poor economic condition of Nigerian citizens has encouraged the striving market of UEEE in Nigeria. A lot of these UEEE enter the country and within a short period of time, hundreds of millions of them become obsolete and discarded every year and they become sources of e-waste with harmful contaminants. E-waste management policies implemented by the government are also discussed and recommendations to mitigate the ongoing waste stream are given.

Key words: E-Waste, Environment, Management, Sustainability, Disposal
