Abstract
Unlike some major regions in the world, the sub-Saharan African manufacturing sector performs poorly. This is primarily due to the lack of implementation of modern manufacturing techniques and technologies, and the insufficient skills of the workforce. Sub-Saharan African manufacturers must integrate advanced technologies and concepts, including flexible manufacturing systems, to enhance growth and fast-track sectoral development. This research aims to identify the research trends in the application of AI in revolutionizing Computer-Aided Manufacturing. In this study, we reviewed the extent of the revolution of the application of Artificial Intelligence in Computer-Aided Manufacturing in sub-Saharan Africa. The study shows that flexible production systems and advanced manufacturing techniques are not being adopted very widely. It also emphasizes the lack of skills and expense as major obstacles to using these technologies. Steep energy costs, unstable power, poor transportation connections, and a lack of capital are additional major obstacles facing African businesses. The potential of AI in transforming computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) in the Sub-Saharan context cannot be overstated. AI has revolutionized traditional manufacturing processes, leading to increased efficiency, improved quality, and enhanced competitiveness. By leveraging AI in CAM, Sub-Saharan Africa can expect to see more development.

Key words: Artificial Intelligence, Industry 4.0, Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM), Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Smart Manufacturing, Machine Learning, Digital Manufacturing
